According to professional astrologer Carol Starr, the three softest zodiac signs have one big thing in common.
In astrology, all 12 signs have their own set of characteristics that are influenced by things like their ruling planet, modality, and element. If you’re looking to see how soft a sign is, its element can give you an idea.
For example, fire signs are the least soft among the group, as they are known for having large, bright energies that attract attention wherever they go. Air signs are also very talkative and extroverted. They are very social creatures curious about the world and like to exchange thoughts and opinions with others. Then, there are water signs, which are deeply emotional. Although they have quiet moments, they are very driven by their feelings and tend to act and make decisions based on their emotions.
That being said, it leaves the earth signs. According to Starr, practical and grounded earth signs tend to be the softest signs of all. Of course, each person has other factors in their natal chart that may make them more or less relaxed. But that’s why earth signs are considered the softest zodiac signs.
Taurus (April 20 – May 20)
In general, the Taurus goes about their days calmly, peacefully, and in control, even when challenges arise. According to Starr, Taurus inherently knows that looking at all sides of the picture and coming up with a reasonable solution keeps everyone calm. “They’re often quite quiet, but they always have the best words to contain an outburst,” she says. They may not be the first to find a solution to a problem, but their softness will help to anchor everyone’s energy whenever there’s chaos.
Virgo (August 23 – September 22)
Virgo rules the sixth house in astrology, which is the house of health and service. Because of this, Virgos like to help others. They are very encouraging and do really well when they’re in a supportive role. As they are ruled by Mercury, Virgo tends to be very thoughtful, observant, and analytical. Instead of jumping right into a conflict, they will take their time and think carefully about how they will approach the problem at hand.
As Starr says, “Virgo people love to talk and share to create a feeling of calm. They’re amazing at what could be a heated discussion and it takes a lot to make them raise their voices. They seem to feel that talking about problems will solve everything.” Because of this, they tend to appear soft to others.
Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)
Capricorns are of a “special breed” when it comes to maturity, says Starr. “This zodiac sign knows that doing what they want will keep everything under control, and they follow their own special path that creates a sense of calm for everyone.”
Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, which is a planet associated with discipline and maturity. Due to its influence, Capricorn rarely loses their cool. According to Starr, they are excellent at separating their feelings from a situation and always handle things in a “methodical and careful way.”
